We love a 'Big Hairy Audacious Goal.' The concept was first coined by our friend and Purple Patch Fitness founder, Matt Dixon. The concept is simple: sign up for a goal that takes us out of our comfort zone each year.

After taking on some epic BHAGs in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, here's what the Precision Fuel & Hydration squad will target in 2025...

The triathletes

Minty (Sports Scientist)

BHAG: Qualify for Kona 2026 at IRONMAN® Emilia-Romagna (Italy)

“It’s been two years since I raced Kona. I finished content, not buried, and the Island’s heat didn’t destroy me. Now, I have a burning desire to go back in real fighting shape. Bring on 2026.”

Tash (Sports Scientist)

BHAG: Qualify for Kona 2025 at IRONMAN® Vitoria-Gasteiz

“No more half-measures. Time to tackle the Big Island’s heat, wind, and suffering. If I survive, I’ll round off the year at IRONMAN 70.3® Worlds in Marbella (and maybe a sub-3 marathon for good measure!).🤞🏻”

These two Kona hopefuls will be spending plenty of time in our Precision Performance Lab heat chamber ahead of the Big Island.

Raff (Social Media Manager)

BHAG: IRONMAN® Frankfurt

“It’s been just about long enough since my first one that I’ve forgotten how painful it was! So I’ve committed to the squad and said I’d have a crack at another one.”

The gravel squad

JT (Co-Founder)

BHAG: UNBOUND 100

“I’m stoked to be riding the Unbound 100 with so many of the team, it’s going to be a fantastic weekend that’ll be a highlight of my year. The only problem I have is training for it! I’ll be coming into this one fit and strong from my Hyrox training, but severely lacking in saddle time. So I’m not sure what will give me more trouble, my legs or my ass!”

Lindsey (Sports Scientist)

BHAG: Finish UNBOUND 100

“My gravel bike is rocking rim brakes; they might be ‘old tech,’ but I’ll have one of the lightest setups at the 100-mile gravel event. I just have to hope they don't put a technical section in the course!”

Jack (Head of Pro Sport and B2B)

BHAG: UNBOUND 100

“I’ve never ridden a gravel bike, but I’ve wanted to do Unbound for years. A spanner in the plan is I also get into the London Marathon, which falls 34 days before the epic gravel race. Looks like I'm about to find out whether a marathon runner can complete Unbound with minimal gravel miles under his belt!”

Sounds like Jack’s going to need to find some gravel skills pretty quickly so I’ve sent him Dr Bryce Dyer’s beginners guide to gravel.

And, as a triathlete who's switching his focus to off-road riding, he'll need this...

Ant (Copywriter)

BHAG: UNBOUND 200 & Qualify for UCI Gravel Worlds

“After dabbling in cyclocross and gravel racing in the past around triathlion, I’m going to try my hand at a full gravel season—Unbound 200 in the US, Dirty Reiver, and Gralloch in the UK. I also want to snag a slot for the World Gravel Champs in Nice.”

Seano (North American Operations Manager)

BHAG: Age Group Podium at UNBOUND 100

“Still on my list for the 3rd year. It’s a love-hate relationship with peanut-butter mud. I got 5th in 2023 with a flat and two monster trains blocking me. This time, I want the podium!”

The runners

Brad (Ambassador Program Manager)

BHAG: Back Yard Ultra / Gravel Worlds 50k + 150 miler

“I’m intrigued by Backyard Ultra—100 miles is the target. Then, Gravel Worlds in Nebraska: a 50k run on Friday plus a 150-mile gravel race on Saturday. If I’m there, might as well do both!”

Ricky (Athlete Support Specialist)

BHAG: Arc of Attrition 100-miler

“After watching Western States the last two years, I’m itching to get my name in the lottery. The Arc is rumoured to be the hardest UK winter ultra—100 miles in rain, high winds, and mud. What could go wrong?”

We asked the pro's how they fuel their ultramarathons...

Andy (Co-Founder and Sports Scientist)

BHAG: California International Marathon

"I've run a few marathons, mostly at the end of IRONMAN races or off-road trail versions. But I've never had a decent go at a 'fast' road marathon. I like the idea of my BHAG being at the end of the year so that I can use it to drive some consistency in my approach to training over the entire year rather than a more concentrated push for a shorter period of time.

"There's also the fact that my brother is aiming for the same race so we'll be able to train together and keep each other accountable. And, it'll present a good excuse to buy some new racing (and training shoes) and an excuse to get some new kicks should never be passed up!"

Dave (Content Creator)

BHAG: California International Marathon

“I wanted to do a flat, fast marathon with the good stuff on the course so I don’t have to carry my own gels - so the California International Marathon is perfect, and it’s not a bad place for a post-marathon holiday either!”

Ron (Fulfilment)

BHAG: California International Marathon

“Dave was telling me all about his BHAG. I only had to hear the word California and I was hooked too!”

Emily (Sports Scientist)

BHAG: A half marathon, likely New Forest, Bournemouth, or Swindon

“I’m a footballer at heart, but seeing as I work with a load of endurance junkies it’s about time I tried my hand at a race. A local half marathon seems like a good place to start and see how my football training converts into endurance running.”

As a sports scientist, Emily knows how to fuel and hydrate for any event, but if you need a helping hand, check out our free Fuel & Hydration Planner to plan your BHAG nutrition strategy.

Other sports

JP (Athlete Support Manager)

BHAG: Sub-1hr Pro Hyrox

“Fresh off my first Hyrox Open, the office banter hasn’t affected my motivation to keep up my ‘hybrid’ way of life. Next, I want to see if I can match or beat my time in the heavier Pro category.”

Mel (Athlete Support Specialist)

BHAG: Hyrox?

“I haven’t fully commited to my BHAG yet. I seriously considered a return to triathlon but my body isn’t enjoying the reality of the training required. So instead of going back to triathlon I’ll be sticking to Hyrox and likely try and find another event to do and hopefully bag myself another spot on the podium.”

Jonny G (Partnerships and Activations Manager)

BHAG: Amstel Gold

“I managed to get out to watch the Amstel Gold race last year and witness the pros ride up iconic climbs like Cauber and Keutenbuerg. For some reason seeing them deep in the hurt locker inspired me to want to ride the same course. I’m sure I’ll feel differently when I’m grinding away at 40rpm after running out of gears. No matter how tough it gets out there, I’ll always have one thing in mind to keep me motivated… that cold pint of Amstel Gold at the finish line.”
